Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has announced that Quebec Capitales INF Maxx Tissenbaum has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 16.
Tissenbaum hit .455 (10-for-22) this week, collecting a double, three home runs, and eight RBI. He began his week on Tuesday with a 4-for-5 game at the Rockland Boulders, picking up a double, an RBI, and a run scored in a 13-9 defeat. Quebec recovered to win 7-4 on Wednesday afternoon, and Tissenbaum played a key role. He was 2-for-4 in the game, hitting his first home run of the week, driving in three runs and scoring two. Quebec took the series on Thursday with a 5-4 win and another big game from Tissenbaum. He was 2-for-3 with another home run, three more RBI, a walk and a run scored.
The Capitales opened a road series at the Ottawa Champions on Friday night, and Tissenbaum was 1-for-4 in a 3-1 loss. Quebec won the middle game of the series 4-2 despite the fact that it was Tissenbaum’s lone hitless game of the week. Ottawa took the set with a 3-2 win on Sunday, but Tissenbaum hit a solo homer in the defeat.
Tissenbaum, a Can-Am League All-Star, is hitting .349 with 14 doubles, a triple, nine home runs and 32 RBI on the season. 2017 marks his second season with the Capitales.
