Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has announced that Ottawa Champions RHP Daniel Cordero and C Danny Grauer have made it a clean sweep of the league’s player of the week awards for the week ending June 25.

It’s the second-time Champions teammates have swept the award.

Cordero, 24, picked up a win over the Quebec Capitales in his only start of the week, allowing a single run on three hits in seven innings while striking out five and walking one

It’s Cordero’s first time receiving the weekly Pitcher of the Week award, and the second award in a row for Ottawa after LHP Yean Carlos Gil took home the honour last week.

Grauer, 24, hit .565 in seven games, with three home runs and 11 RBI in seven games. The highlight came in Friday’s 13-9 win over the Rockland Boulders when he crushed two homers and drove in six runs.

Along with Kenny Bryant, Grauer is one of only two Champions to win the Pointstreak Player of the Week award, and the first to do it twice.

Cordero joins Gil, Austin Chrismon, Wilmer Font, and Drew Granier as Champions who have received the Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week award.
