Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has announced that Rockland Boulders RHP Markus Solbach was named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 11.
Solbach made two starts this week, picking up a pair of victories. On Monday, he faced the Ottawa Champions on the road and dominated. Over seven shutout innings, Solbach scattered three hits and did not walk a batter. He struck out two in the outing, a game Rockland would win 8-0.
He returned to the mound on Saturday to face the New Jersey Jackals on the road, and tossed seven more strong innings. Solbach allowed two runs on five hits and two walks, striking out six and earning a win. Rockland won 5-2.
On the season, the Pulheim, Germany, native is now 4-0 with a 2.93 ERA. Over 30.2 innings, he has recorded 20 strikeouts. This year marks Solbach’s second season with Rockland. He was 6-2 with a 2.43 ERA in 10 starts last season, striking out 52 in 74 innings.
