Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has announced that Rockland Boulders INF Cody Regis has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending May 28.
Regis hit .375 (9-for-24) this week, collecting a double, two home runs and five RBI in a six-game span.
After going hitless in a 3-2 road win over the Trois-Rivieres Aigles on Tuesday, Regis went 2-for-4 in helping Rockland to a 4-3 triumph over the Aigles on Wednesday. Though Trois-Rivieres would walk away with the series finale with a 9-6 win Thursday, Regis went 2-for-4 in the game with a double and two RBI.
The Boulders came back home on Friday to open a series with the Quebec Capitales, and Regis picked up right where he left off. The Los Angeles, CA, resident was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the series opener, but the Capitales took the game 5-2. Rockland returned to their winning ways on Saturday, and Regis hit a solo home run in a 9-3 triumph. The Boulders earned a series victory on Sunday, a 4-1 win that featured a pair of hits from Regis, including a second solo home run in as many days.
Regis is now hitting .372 on the season, with three doubles, three home runs, and seven RBI to his credit. Regis is in his first season with Rockland after two years in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He hit .290 with 25 doubles, three triples, a home run and 58 RBI in 2015 with the Class A Kane County (IL) Cougars of the Midwest League, and followed that up with a 2016 season split between the Class A Advanced Visalia (CA) Rawhide of the California League and the Class AA Mobile (AL) BayBears of the Southern League. He hit a combined .256 in 2016, notching 16 doubles, five triples, a home run and 36 RBI.
