Registration is under way for the Henry Burris All-Star Weekend Golf Tournament and Kids’ Sports Camp on May 14-15. The event is being held to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa organization.
The weekend opens with the All-Star Kids Camp at TD Place on Sunday, May 14. Grey Cup champ and MVP Henry Burris and his all-star pals will help teach children ages 8 to 14 football skills and leadership skills applicable to both the sport and everyday life. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon on the field at TD Place. The session will be followed by lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
On Monday, May 15, the adults get to have fun. Golfers can join Burris and his all-star friends, including Ottawa RedBlacks players and coaches such as Brendan Gillanders, Antoine Pruneau, Jon Gott and Brad Sinopoli, at Eagle Creek Golf Club. This event allows guests the opportunity to play 18-holes in a team of four golfers, one member being an all-star picked by Henry Burris.
At 11 a.m., the 36 teams will tee off in a shotgun start to compete in the 18-hole tournament. After the tournament, all guests are invited back to the Eagle Creek clubhouse for a dinner with the all-stars that is to be followed by a silent auction.
The price per team is $1,000. All proceeds go toward making Kids a Big Deal On and Off the Field. For more details and to register, contact Danielle Saul at 613.247.4776 x317.
